SurfRegister.com
was set up in January 2003 to help fight surfboard theft across
the Globe. Up until now, if a surfboard is stolen it was easy
to sell on, as there was no way of tracing the surfboard or
checking if it was stolen.
The idea behind SurfRegister.com is to have an online database that issues a unique ID number and has all of the information about a surfboard that could be used to identify it. This could also aid in the tracking and recovery of stolen boards as well as acting as a visual deterrant.
The criteria for the site is that it should be quick and easy to use, so that in the future the site can be updated as easily as possible with minimal disruption to the people using it.
